You're Invited
Hey, my name's Tom 👋
Release The Owl is my new games-making project.
After wanting to design my own game for as long as I can remember, I'm really excited to be able to say that my first title, Wedding Trashers, will be heading to Kickstarter in 2024.
What's The Game About?
Based on real-life events, Wedding Trashers tells the story of a wedding reception that has gone horrendously wrong.
We've all been there: Family tensions have boiled over, and the bride's traditional bouquet tossing has quickly descended into an all-out comedy brawl.
Using the unique skills and abilities of your table of guests you must try and lay claim to the bouquet, and then hold on to it until the police arrive to shut the wedding down.
It's strategic, it's unpredictable, and most of all, it's exceptionally daft.
RSVP
I'd love to keep you updated with very occasional emails about how the game is coming along.
Your contact details will only be used for keeping you up to date on the wonderful world of Wedding Trashers - and any other tabletop gaming project I might start up after that, in the dim and distant future.
You can, of course, unsubscribe at any time.
Obviously there will be opportunities to play test the game and, when the time comes, a few Kickstarter exclusive for confirmed RSVP-ers.
But Wedding Trashers is going to be a lot more than just a game. We're working on creating an entire world for you to discover.
As things come together, you'll learn the stories behind some of our favourite characters, and one or two mysterious goings on at the presitigous wedding venue - Thwackington Hall.
What's Happened So Far?
I first came up with the idea for Wedding Trashers in early 2023, and since then a lot has happened.
Obviously, it began with a lot of research and playtesting - and that process is still ongoing.
The game has changed enormously from my first attempt, and while there are still tweaks and improvements to be made, most of the gameplay is now more or less nailed down.
That means we can start moving on to artwork and, while the playtesting continues, I've teamed up with a couple of really talented illustrators and graphic designers to help bring the game to life.
The majority of the artwork and illustration you can see on the website, and in the prototype version of the game, is AI generated - but this is only for concepting/testing purposes.
For various reasons - both creative and ethical - I'd really like the version of the game which goes on Kickstarter, and is then released into the world, to be hand-crafted by actual people, and I'm really excited to say that process is now underway.
Over the course of the next few months, a professional illustrator will start to bring the game to life. And when she's finished, we can start to talk about Kickstarter dates!
Other Ways To Keep In Touch
Although the monthly(ish) email updates will be the best way of finding out all the key Wedding Trashers updates, there will be lots of fun things happening on Instagram as the game is developed.
If you have any questions about the game, or are keen to find out a bit more about how the project is coming together, please feel free to send me a DM on Instagram, or you can just reply to any of the email updates.
You can also find a few different ways of getting in touch on my personal website.
And, of course if you'd like to play the game for yourself, and join us for a playtesting session, you'd be more than welcome.
Please feel free to send me a message, and we can sort something out.
Thanks For Visiting
Thanks so much for visiting, and a particular thank you to everyone who has helped support the project so far with their help, advice, and valuable time spent playtesting.
I really can't wait for you to see how this game comes to life, and I'm so excited to get it out into the world.
If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to get in touch, and don't forget to RSVP if you haven't already.
All the best!
